What is ElectroChemical Activation (ECA) Technology?
ElectroChemical Activation is the process of passing a dilute saline solution (0.05-0.5%) through a special electrolytic device, the design of which permits the harnessing of two distinct and opposite (by means of activity) streams of activated solutions (with electron-donor and electron-acceptor properties). Since its early discovery, ECA technology has gone through years of development. Key to the entire process is the Flow-through Electrolytic Cell (or module), commonly called the FEM. There are products on the market which use earlier versions of FEM technology, but there are drawbacks to be found with these. We offer you systems with the very latest and most effective versions of this technology.
How is our technology used?
Our generators create a colorless, odorless and aqueous solution using on-site, point-of-use electrolysis of diluted brine. Electrochemically activated solution is produced by applying a short-term (0.3 – 0.6 sec) mild electrical charge (5-9A @ 8 - 12 volts) to a dilute brine solution (less then1% salt) as it passes through a flow-through electrolytic module (FEM), a 10” by 1” diameter tubular device that converts the brine into a stream of reactive oxidants. A key benefit of our technology is that the oxidant composition can be precisely controlled over a wide pH range. For personnel decontamination, skin contact requires a near neutral pH. At neutral pH (pH 7), the primary oxidant in our technology is the metastable compound hypochlorous acid. This acid, though safe to skin, eyes and wounds, is a powerful oxidant and the most effective biocidal agent of all the chlorine based disinfectants.
Why use ECA rather than traditional technologies using ready-to-use chemical agents?
Our technology is a rapid-acting, broad spectrum antimircobial solution. It is odorless, non-toxic, non-irritant, non-allergenic and environmentally friendly. Our product offers the following benefits over traditional ready-to-use chemical methods:

What are researchers saying?
Joellen Feirtag, an associate professor at the Department of Food Science and Nutrition at the University of Minnesota, has been experimenting with the water-based electrochemical activation system. Feirtag states, "The results we're seeing are phenomenal. It's killing all bacteria and viruses. It even kills avian flu and anthrax spores."

Zap Water Technology, Inc. was founded on the belief that this green technology that is too good to be true should be accessible to all organizations at a very economical price! Originating from advance technology in Russia, Zap Water Technology has and is one of the most creative and innovative installers in the united States. Many of Zap's installations have been the "first" of it's kind in their respective industry.
Operating out of Minnesota, Zap Water Technology continues to provide businesses with the vision of creating a greener tomorrow while still remaining compatible with FDA food standards and federal sanitization requirements. Using natural elements of our environment - salt and water - Zap is committed to using our earthly resources to make a better world.
At Zap Water Technology Inc., we believe that being kind to the environment is our responsibility. We are here to effectively merge your business/home needs and your desire to be environmentally friendly at an affordable cost.
